12 bicyclists who started a caravan within Get Planet Wise! Recycle campaign, on Monday from the Gornji Milanovac exceed the last stage on the road, and on Friday, June 29 thy will arrived in Backi Petrovac
Green initiative and Green List of Serbia invites you to join in celebration of finalization of environmental bicycling caravan in Backi Petrovac on Friday, June 29 at Town Square at 19.30 pm, within Get Planet Wise! Recycle campaign. Environmental campaign with 12 cyclists (5 girls and 7 boys) for 5 days visited six cities (Gornji Milanovac, Valjevo, Sabac, Obrenovac, Indjija and Backi Petrovac). The caravan crossed total of 350 km and divided to citizens 3,000 bags for sorting waste and with internet address of Recycling Address book, a unique database of recycling islands in Serbia at Green initiative website.
Bicycling caravan in the final stage, on Friday 29th June, will start from Indjija at 15.00 pm, and passing Novi Sad around 17.00pm, while the arrival to Backi Petrovac is expected around 19:30 pm.
Ceremony in Backi Petrovac, will start at 20.00pm, and will include:
- Eco-art cabaret (Group of artists Cikrusfera)
- Music Concert (Tiću and White City Massive)
Representatives of municipality Backi Petrovac support the final ceremony of bicycle caravan with their presence.
Through the towns bicyclist were spreading environmental messages of the importance of recycling inviting citizens, organizations, institutions, and recycling businesses to engage more actively in the collection of recyclable materials. Local bicyclist, from the towns caravan visited, joined them, such as in Novi Sad, where they will met Novi Sad Critical Mass (monthly event that promotes local bicycling as a fun and healthy means of transportation).
This is a third eco-bike Get Planet wise! Recycle caravan that this year is realized within Green initiative activities, focused on stimulation of primary selection on local and national level in Serbia. Realization of this year’s bike caravan is being implemented in partnership with Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF), Young Researchers of Serbia, Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), and with the financial assistance of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), supported as well by the Telenor Foundation and Dutch Embassy.
Sending environmental messages to citizens, on importance of recycling and primary selection, in first two years, bicyclist caravan visited over 20 towns in Serbia, more than 40 bicyclists participated in it, and it crossed 1,200 km.
